…………..”Every 11 Seconds Somebody dies of HIV/AIDS”

It was a gloomy Friday yesterday while we were having our Emergency Meeting at Philippine Red Cross – Davao Chapter. Before the meeting, I wondered.. I kept on thinking and brainwashed my head as to what could be the possible reason behind the on-call meeting.

Few hours had passed, all the volunteers in a specific service of Philippine Red Cross had gathered into the room cozy, white-colored wall and started the meeting by our dear Moderator.

You might have a clue what our topic is, based on my heading. >:) Sooner, then I realized that this day, 16th of May 2010, is the 27th Annual International Candlelight Memorial for HIV/AIDS victims. This was the first program made by Global Health Council in the 1983 to give awareness to the public of today’s grassroots awareness campaign.

Just what is AWARENESS really means?

Little of us know what it really means. To some, awareness is just a simple world. Taken for granted for most people. Little that they know, behind that simple word, has a big impact to those who have HIV/AIDS or victims for short. Individuals in the field of Nursing and Medicine and other field of Science usually has a background of this.

Awareness, is to be aware, it is the state or ability to perceive the events around you in an environment, objects or sensory patterns. AIDS Awareness, on the other hand, is the ability to perceive and feel the grassroots of AIDS.

By being aware of this disease, we might personally help our self and to other people as well. As we take part in this big event, we remember the victims of the past, the present and the future. Taking part with just a slice of your time, makes a big difference in your life. :)

We may not know, the one your in cohabitation with has AIDS. If you are practicing the right way, such as waring your slimy protection, fit and snuggly, then no questions asked. Just keep it up and constantly updating yourself, though. However, in part of those who are not yet practicing and doing it most often as they could, well… You, your partner, I and the rest of the world might not know it, unless you voluntarily step in a laboratory to have your blood checked.
